Just a little behind

Guess what I discovered today?

Thanksgiving is next week! Holy fast moving year!

Guess what else I have discovered

Etsy

I know, take me forever to discover what the heck everyone was talking about. And why it was so wonderful. Its like someone said, hey all those fun crafty things you want but don't have time to make, well here they are!

Seriously.In.Love

Check out this bag or this one and I want these for the girls. So fun right! warning-its addicting.

My 5 for today-

1. All things Christmas. I love the lights and sounds and smells and everything about it. I'm ready for the season to begin.

2.My moms willingness to drive 20 minutes one way and 20 minutes back just to drop my girls off so I can go early to work. There is no way in the world I would be getting this house without all of her immense help.

3.That wonderful feeling of peace I get after I panic. When I worry and worry about something and then take a minute to REALLY think it through and then it just washes over me. I love that feeling, and I am so thankful for that spirit and the knowledge of where it comes from.

4. My health. I may have bad odds and ends and feet and fingers bug me occasionally, but overall I have never had serious health issues, and for that I am very grateful.

5. Great reading material. I love to read and I love that someone brings all their old books to the break room so that I can read at lunch.

Sigh

You know those days, when you walk into work and the phone is already ringing and your boss hands you a pile of work and someone else hands you another and it all HAS TO GET DONE ASAP! And then while you are scrambling to get these mega important things done NO ONE ELSE IS HERE and you are the ONLY ONE ANSWERING THE PHONE! and you finally get those things done only to find yet ANOTHER PILE OF THINGS to do that you hid Friday so your boss thought your desk looked organized for the weekend?

Well today was one of those days.

And all those people that have been praying for snow, or are so glad its here, I would like to invite you all to see how difficult it is to build a wall when you can't feel your fingers and the wood is covered in snow. Not cool!

So now because I very much need it, here are some things I am indeed grateful for

1. Hot showers and Hot Chocolate and hot fires and anything emitting heat that helps to thaw my rear.

2. Candy Cane Kisses. Seriously

3. The new door to my cubie cubbie. Although I am terrified of this happening again, I am grateful my stuff is covered. (seriously though, I cringe every time I open it)

4. My job, as scary as the economy is, I am so grateful for a job in a non-declining field that provides security and good pay and benefits.

5. Weed burners, they help in the whole snow covered, wet wood situation when building stuff, and they are freaking awesome to play with.

Lame

I'm a slacker, I know, but it one of those things that I start to think of something to blog, and then I decide its dumb and wouldn't make a whole post so I stop.

My solution?

bullets of random thoughts by Ashley

  • I hate when people call me ma'am, unless of course its a hot cowboy, then its flattering and respectful, but otherwise I get offended.
  • do you ever see those couple and think to your self, that guy is hot, what in the world is he doing with her? or Wow, she could do so much better.
  • I totally think the Harry Potter series is soooo much better than Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I bought and read them both, but if we are making it a contest (and I am), Harry Potter all the way.
  • I need me a man, but I don't need a man. Does that make sense?
  • I shouldn't be surprised that I have things in common with the Ex's new live in. We didn't get divorced because we don't get along.
  • I need a vacation, a serious sleep, relax no worries for a couple days, vacation.
  • I'm trying to be all healthy, and I bought Humus as a snack for work today. I love me some Humus, but it had too much olive oil, and no matter how many whoppers I eat, I still taste olive oil.
  • Halloween was great, but without pictures (which do exist, just not on the computer) its all lamo if I just talked about how the streets were full of kids (seriously people, I have never seen so many) and their parents were all drunk because all the neighbors had out alcohol. Yes in my moms neighborhood, the adults trick-or-treat for alcohol. Some friends here at work and I have come up with some alternate names for this event, which include trick-or-drunk, drink-or-treat and child endangerment. you pick which you like best.
  • I am in love with the alien Gallaxhar on Monsters vs. aliens, (he is totaly voiced by dwight from the office, isn't that awesome? I only know this because I had to google the movie to know how to spell "gallaxhar" and "quantonium". yup that makes me love him more) why you ask? When he is told the quantonium he seeks has been found on earth, his snide comment "Lame" is the only response.

I am going to steal my awesome cousin Diane's 5 a day idea. She is blogging five things everyday she is grateful for. I'm not going to blog everyday, because, well refer to bullet points above. But when I do blog, I'll post five things I'm grateful for.

  1. Whoppers
  2. Gallaxher (seriously, after the 79th time watching this movie, you will be grateful too)
  3. Wonderful family for watching the chickens at the last minute
  4. Good sing-along-with music
  5. The chickens of course (aka the girlies)

I Still only have a foundation

Woot for foundations, but lest you think all we have done is watch them poor cement here are a couple pictures of the other houses
This is our furthest house, the one we started on first and have done the most on, it not only has all walls and a roof and windows and doors, but it also has two bathtubs, heating ducts a furnace and plumbing.
There is another house, almost this far, not sure where the picture went, but it looks like this, just flipped around
This is the third house, most the walls are done. This one has been the most exciting to me because its the same floor plan as mine so its fun to see it come together
This is the fourth house, it has most the exterior walls
There is also a fifth house, it has a floor. I lost that picture too, but its okay you couldn't see much because there was a BFD (big freakin ditch) running in front of these lots and I didn't want to cross it again that day to take better pictures. maybe next week!
If anyone feels the overwhelming need to hit something with a hammer or to work for several hours on some strangers house, I know just how to help!

If you like walking in circles in peoples old crops

Go here, you will thank me later

The girls had a blast!-Here they were pumpkin princesses, complete with Cinderellas Coach

On the world's bumpiest 30 second tractor ride

Sitting on a bull, debating whether to ride or not, they opted not, but the cute guy running the ride was nice enough to let them both sit on it.
If you buy tickets online, you get a free pumpkin, they should pay me to write this stuff, but they aren't. The girls loved it and we were lucky enough to park in the middle of the University 44th ward's FHE, and we got doughnuts. Score.
